What a manufacturing website should tell a potential buyer

A manufacturing website should explain what you make, which processes and materials you support, what information you need for an RFQ and how a buyer can contact you. Clear, specific information helps people assess fit before they enquire.

Describe capabilities precisely

Create useful pages for your actual processes rather than a long list of vague services. Describe material and size capabilities only when the shop can support them. Publish certifications, tolerances or lead-time claims only when they have been checked. Do not use a stock image as evidence of equipment ownership or a customer relationship.

Make the enquiry easy to prepare

Tell buyers which drawings, revisions, quantities and delivery requirements you need. Explain which file formats you accept and provide a contact option when a visitor cannot share a drawing online. Before adding uploads, decide how documents will be protected, who can access them and when they will be removed.

Write answers people can use

Address questions such as whether you support repeat batches, what affects an estimate and how a buyer should communicate a revision. Give each page a descriptive heading and short direct answer, followed by useful detail. Articles should solve genuine buyer problems rather than repeat the same keywords across many near-identical pages.

Build the search foundations

Use crawlable pages, descriptive titles, internal links and canonical URLs. Structured data should describe content that visitors can actually see. Google says its AI search features build on existing SEO foundations; there is no special AI markup that guarantees inclusion. Indexing, ranking and citation remain decisions made by search and AI services.

A checklist to take back to your team

  • A clear process and capability description
  • A visible RFQ or contact action on mobile
  • Accurate claims and approved project examples
  • Useful answers with links to relevant services
  • Working forms, descriptive titles and a sitemap
